Duane Kinnon has over 20-years of experience transforming communities through education initiatives, youth development, sports and recreation. Through his executive management positions at the Salvation Army and the Boys & Girls Club of America and programmatic roles with various foundations and government agencies, Duane became a nationally recognized change agent—developing innovative community solutions, setting new fundraising records for vital programs and becoming a highly sought after organizational “problem-solver.” His high-impact youth development and sports initiatives have touched over 100,000 youth while giving him a unique understanding of the challenges and dynamics surrounding effective management of nonprofit organizations. He has successfully activated and managed dozens of initiatives with public schools, universities, partnering agencies and faith based organizations, resulting in stronger families and thriving communities. Today, Duane puts his results-driven expertise to work providing strategic management services to non-profits and social enterprises, specializing in board and staff development, effective business management, high impact program development and fundraising.
Duane served on St. Joseph’s Hospital Community Advisory Council, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s national youth sports commissions in football and baseball and the New York State Government Relations Committee. He was also a board member of the Syracuse 20/20 and 40 Below. Duane co-chaired the Syracuse ‘Say Yes to Education’ CBO Task Force and he is presently a member of the Coalition of Young Professionals in Brownsville, Brooklyn.
In 2010, Duane won the New York Community Foundation John F. Marsellus Sabbatical Award for executive leadership. Through this award, he attended Harvard Business School’s Global, Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management. Duane was an All-East football team captain at Syracuse University and played professional sports in both football and baseball. He holds a B.S. in Child & Family Studies from Syracuse University and Masters of Science in Business Administration from the Metropolitan College of NY.
